On October 21, 2026, the seminar “Multilateral Cooperation to Promote the Sustainable Development of Global Mineral Supply Chains,” co-hosted by CCCMC and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), was held in London. Nearly 100 representatives from international organizations, industry associations, standards bodies, think tanks, and upstream and downstream enterprises in mineral supply chains attended the event, jointly exploring how to build greener, more inclusive, and more resilient global value chains.

In his opening remarks, President Jiang Hui noted that against the backdrop of a transforming global mineral supply chain governance landscape, the Chamber has long been committed to deeply connecting policy requirements, international rules, and corporate practicing, helping Chinese enterprises accurately understand the external market environment while leading them to participate deeply in global mining governance. As the green and low-carbon transition and development security are intertwined, and in the face of cross-border and cross-sector common challenges, all parties need to strengthen policy communication and rules coordination and build consensus on achieving common goals.

In the keynote speech session, Tim Schlösser (center), GIZ Project Manager, emphasized the importance of building sustainable mineral supply chains through multi-stakeholder partnerships; Mark Robinson (right), Executive Director of the EITI, shared pathways and observations for enhancing global supply chain transparency; and Jan Klawitter (left), Vice President of Government and International Relations at Anglo American, explained from a corporate operations perspective how sustainable development is reshaping the business model of global mining.

In the first roundtable discussion, Li Tiantian, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Development Department of CCCMC, exchanged views with Sascha Raabe, Head of UNIDO’s Global Responsible Green Minerals Alliance; Susanna McLaren, Head of Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability at the Cobalt Institute; Thomas Pichet, Senior Advisor at the Global Forest Governance Project (FGMC); and Alex Kopp, Senior Advisor at Global Witness, on emerging trends and industry expectations in global sustainable mineral governance. In the second roundtable, Zhang Yang, Executive Director of Yunnan Tin; Song Jianlin, ESG Head of Sunwoda Energy Systems; Lili Zhou, Senior Responsible Sourcing Manager at BASF; Li Yanan, ESG Specialist at Tsingshan; and Dr. Stephen Barrie of Mining 2030 joined the discussion, focusing on the pain points and difficulties in mineral value chains and sharing experiences in collaborative practices and value delivery.

This seminar fully demonstrated the commitment and responsibility of Chinese industry organizations in deeply participating in global governance and actively carrying out international cooperation, providing an important bridge and efficient platform for all parties to bridge cognitive differences and build consensus on development. CCCMC will continue to stand side by side with international partners, continuously expand new paths of open, inclusive, pragmatic, collaborative and mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the building of a secure, stable, smooth and resilient global green mineral supply chain.
