On February 25, 2022, the Alliance of Chinese Business in Africa for Social Responsibilities(ACBASR) held a Chinese New Year Reception successfully in Beijing. Officials of the relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, China International Development Cooperation Agency, African envoys to China, representatives of the ACBASR members in Beijing, Chinese and foreign institutions and media representatives attended the reception to talk about sustainable development.
Vice Minister Qian Keming of the Ministry of Commerce of China attended the conference via video link and delivered a speech. He said that the establishment of ACBASR is an important move of the "Eight Major Initiatives" of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Supporting ACBASR to launch the "one hundred enterprises and one thousand villages" initiative is an important part for the implementation of the "Nine Programs" in Africa. He proposed to jointly promote the implementation of the "one hundred enterprises and one thousand villages" activities, strengthen China-Africa cooperation, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and help build a community with a shared future for China and Africa in a new era.
Jiang Hui, secretary-general of ACBASR, proposed that in the next three years, the Alliance will mobilize at least 100 Chinese enterprises in Africa to participate in the implementation of at least 1,000 activities or projects for the benefit of the people, so as to promote the sustainable development of the local economy, society and environment, and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for China and Africa in a new era. ACBASR will earnestly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speech on China-Africa cooperation, build a platform for Chinese businesses’ social responsibility in Africa, provide good assistance, and promote the sustainable development of Chinese enterprises overseas.
Pan Yumin, Second-Class Inspector of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, believes that ACBASR is an influential non-profit organization spontaneously set up by Chinese enterprises in Africa in order to better fulfill their social responsibilities and benefit the local people. Supporting ACBASR's launch of the "one hundred enterprises and one thousand villages" initiative is an important innovation in the field of the "Nine Programs" for poverty reduction and improvement of people’s well-being in Africa and a prominent highlight of the Dakar Conference.
Ethiopian Ambassador to China Teshome Toga and Rwandan Ambassador James Kimonyo highly recognized the important contributions made by Chinese enterprises in actively fulfilling their social responsibilities in Africa to promote economic and social development in Africa. They are willing to work with China to make headway in the implementation of "one hundred enterprises and one thousand villages" in Africa in the next three years, push Africa-China cooperation to a new level, and jointly build an even closer community with a shared future between China and Africa.
Wen Gang, deputy general manager of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), said that CCCC will actively participate in the activities of "one hundred enterprises and one thousand villages", continue to enrich the practices of social responsibility, and deepen the integration of the "CCCC Helping Dreams" initiative with the "one hundred enterprises and one thousand villages" initiative. CCCC will promote the sustainable development of African countries. CCCC will promote China-Africa cooperation in the field of infrastructure, continuously strengthen "Hard Connectivity", and meticulously build the popular-support-projects and continuously build "Soft Connectivity".
