On September 26, 2021, the founding ceremony of the Alliance of Chinese Business in Africa for Social Responsibilities (ACBASR) was held at the opening ceremony of the Second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha, Hunan Province.
Jiang Hui, secretary general of ACBASR and Chairman of China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers and Exporters (CCCMC), Wen Gang, representative of the chairman company of ACBASR and deputy general manager of China Communications Construction Company Limited, Fang Qiuchen, Chairman of China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), Zheng Chao, Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electric Products (CCCME), jointly unveiled the plaque of ACBASR. Leaders of the relevant African countries and representatives of more than 500 Chinese enterprises in Africa jointly witnessed the inauguration ceremony of ACBASR on the spot and online.
With a view to implementing the important directive of "supporting the establishment of the alliance of Chinese enterprises for social responsibilities in Africa" put forward by President Xi Jinping in his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Chinese industry organizations, cooperative enterprises and financial institutions in Africa, as well as Chinese enterprise associations, altogether 118 units in 49 countries in Africa, joined hands in initiating the Alliance of Chinese Business in Africa for Social Responsibilities voluntarily. The secretariat of ACBASR is set up in CCCMC in Beijing. At present, more than 1,700 Chinese enterprises in Africa have joined the alliance, covering infrastructure, mining, forestry, textiles, electronics, communications, agriculture, overseas parks and other industries.
ACBASR aims to create a platform of communication & exchanges, action promotion, capacity enhancement and dissemination & promotion for Chinese enterprises in the fulfillment of social responsibilities in Africa. The establishment of ACBASR will actively promote social responsibilities for Chinese enterprises in Africa, advance the coordinated development of Africa’s economy, society and environment and improve African people's well-being, thus making new contributions to the building of an even closer community with a shared future between China and Africa.
