On January 26, 2024, Executive President Diao Chunhe visited Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee, the UN Resident Coordinator in China, as scheduled. They engaged in in-depth discussions on establishing friendly relations and promoting high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation. Li Tiantian, Director of the Alliance Office, and Zheng Yao also participated in the meeting.
President Diao Chunhe extended sincere greetings to Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee. He provided an overview of the Alliance's activities and the overall work plan for the year. He expressed the desire to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism with the UN Resident Coordinator's office in China. He emphasized the importance of enhancing information exchange and practical cooperation in training and related activities. The goal is to provide Chinese enterprises with the latest international perspectives and contribute to deepening the development of China-Africa friendship.
Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee warmly welcomed President Diao Chunhe and his delegation. He provided a detailed overview of his thoughts on economic development and the future direction of China-Africa cooperation. Mr. Chatterjee emphasized that Africa offers tremendous development opportunities across various sectors and possesses long-term, sustainable investment value.
He highlighted the United Nations' role in leveraging its strengths in Africa to coordinate developmental activities at the national level, support African countries' priorities and capacity building, and provide long-term stable services and technical support. The UN has made significant contributions to promoting exchanges in economic, trade, cultural, and other aspects between countries and Africa.
Mr. Chatterjee expressed support for the Alliance's activities and expressed eagerness to engage in further cooperation with the Alliance.
