On July 9, 2020, CCCMC Vice Chairman Liu Danyang held a teleconference with Mr. Glen G. Penaranda, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Philippines in China. Serena Zhao, Trade and Investment Promotion officer of the Philippine Embassy as well as directors of the related departments of CCCMC attended the conference.

Vice Chairman Liu Danyang introduced the basic situation of CCCMC, and pointed out that the Philippines is an important economic and trade partner of China and bilateral economic and trade cooperation has broad development space. He hopes that both sides can further strengthen communication and jointly promote the commercial and trade exchanges of the metals, minerals and chemicals industries between China and the Philippines.

Commercial Counsellor Glen G. Penaranda thanked CCCMC for the initiative to communicate with the Philippine Embassy in China. Under the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, it is very timely and important for both sides to communicate and resume trade in a planned way. At present, China is the largest investment country in the Philippines. A considerable number of Chinese enterprises have invested and built factories in the Philippines. The Philippines attaches great importance to the partnership with China. The Philippines has a population of more than 100 million. It is hoped that Chinese enterprises will not only sell goods in the Philippines, but also find more investment opportunities in such fields as technology, intelligent buildings, building materials, roads and bridges, infrastructure construction and industrial park construction. Chinese enterprises are welcomed to take the initiative to learn about such market information from the embassy. They also hope to hold an online promotion activity with CCCMC in August, inviting the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. to participate in the preparation for the activity and introduce the investment opportunities of the Philippines to Chinese enterprises. They would like to assist CCCMC members in getting information and certification.

Liu Danyang pointed out that the trade between China and the Philippines has been growing in the past few years, and China has become the largest investment country of the Philippines. The Philippines is a very dynamic country in South Asia. In terms of the metals, minerals and chemicals industry, the Philippines is the first export destination of ceramic tiles in China. The Philippines boasts many mineral resources. There are many opportunities for cooperation between the two sides. Counselor Glen G. Penaranda is welcomed to come to CCCMC’s office at his convenience.

Commercial Counselor Glen G. Penaranda hopes that CCCMC will arrange an appropriate time to visit the embassy and have talks with the Philippine ambassador. Both sides have agreed on the contact mechanism, and will continue to enhance contact and jointly hold online promotion activities.
